A family film starring 2 orphaned girls ages 9 and 10 who find a Great Dane pup dumped on the side of a road by the 'Fifth Ave burglars.

The girls are adopted by a Manhattan family, who unbeknown to them have also adopted the Great Dane pup.
Thus begin the adventures of Chestnut, the Great Dane, who  with the help of Sal and Rae,(the 2 girls,) manage to invent clever ways to keep him hidden from their adoptive family.

As we know, Great Danes grow quickly, and with the help of their Portuguese maid, who discovers the pup by accident, the girls enlist the help of the maid to get Chestnut in and out of the apartment.

Typical of Danes, they get into all sorts of trouble, but when Chestnut meets the Fifth Ave burglars who originally dumped him off; Chestnut cleverly figures out a plan to ensnare them.

It's a fun and hilarious adventure where Chestnut,  is played by several Danes of all ages and in the end becomes The Hero of Central Park.

Von Hapsburg Danes is thrilled to have Maestro..Von Hapsburgs I've Got Rhythm and Java; Von Hapsburg's Toast of the Town play the part of Chestnut as an adult.

Many thanks go to head trainer Anne Gordon who spent many hours preparing Maestro for his part and to Debbie   who trained Java.
